About NGC5906

NGC 5906, also known as the Splinter Galaxy, and also less common names as Cat Scratch Galaxy and Knife Edge Galaxy, is located in the constellation of Draco It is a large spiral galaxy viewed edge on to the galactic plain and lies approximatly 48.6 Million light years from earth. Not much is know about it but it contains very few giant stars and is apparently made of of mainly dwarf stars.


This galaxy also contains an ultra-luminous X-ray source
